H.oG.F. is a very close knit local body of believers, and we’re always ready for new family members! Heart of God Family Reunion is our favorite event of the year! For those of you new to our family, prayerfully consider this an event you don’t want to miss!!

“Heart of God Family Reunion” has a nickname: “Camp”.

The first weekend following Memorial Day, we close the church building from Wednesday thru Saturday and go to Camp CUMCITO (the camp is owned and operated by Kansas City’s City Union Mission), nestled in the Ozarks outside of Warsaw, Missouri. For 4 days and 3 nights we are one big happy family in rustic cabins and tents. There is a mess hall where we cook and eat together on long tables and benches with a big fireplace in the center. There have been a couple of years we’ve actually huddled around that fireplace thanks to Missouri weather! The camp is a sprawling campground complete with hiking trails for walking or ATV use, a swimming pool, use of the mess hall for crafts and games played late after service, chapel, a small lake that you can go canoeing, fishing, swimming, or use a paddle boat on;  and even a rifle range and a ball field.  There are games for the kids, and activities for the youth.  For the very brave, one night is given to the youth for a pool party and another is given to the adults. We have had baptisms in that pools as well!!

The cabins are not air conditioned.  We go early enough in the season that the nights are still cool.  There is a working fireplace on one side in each cabin.  Each cabin has 2 sides with 10 bunk beds each and is separated by a common entry containing the toilet and sink.  There are showers in other areas of the camp that are clean and private.  There are also several spots to pitch a tent by the chapel as well.

Each evening and Saturday morning we gather in the beautiful chapel for a time of praise and worship and a word from the Lord, sometimes by Pastor Bob, other times from various speakers he brings in. This is a time where we can grow together as friends, brothers and sisters in Christ and fellow church members.

Thursday and Friday afternoons will find you on a “pie run” if you so desire.  Bikes and cars race (OK, doing the speed limit) to a great place called Diantha’s, home of the tallest pies in the world... seriously, Diantha’s cream pies are over 6 inches tall! For those of us who prefer fruit desserts, cobblers are available.  Our resident expert is Randy Arnold.

We also take advantage of local attractions like the Truman Dam, swimming beach, antique stores, boating, you name it! The cost is minimal so every budget can manage it without a lot of strain. It is fun, relaxing, and refreshing! Many people have spiritual breakthroughs during this casual time away from the everyday cares of life.

All you pay is $50 per person for family living with you up to 4 people. If there are more than 4 people in your immediate family living in the house, each additional person is only $10. Family is defined as immediate family living at home: i.e. mom and 2 kids, or parents and 6 kids, and so on. For that cost, you get room and meals for Wednesday dinner thru Saturday lunch.  BABIES UNDER 1 YEAR OLD ARE FREE!!  Heart of God Fellowship with pay the rest of their fee. (City Union Mission charges us no matter what the age)

We must be able to plan for the correct amount of people and food so please be sure to sign up as soon as possible.  There are forms at both the Buckner and Odessa location.  If you attend in another location, ask someone to bring you a form.

bed clothes for a twin mattress OR your own air bed/cot, towels and toiletries (there’s a Walmart 6 miles away if you forget something), games to play/share, BIBLE/notebook, BUG SPRAY(BUG SPRAY)BUG SPRAY ( we are in the woods!), in between meal snacks for your family/ or to share
