Adult ministry

Heart of God Fellowship has several different adult ministries that one can be involved in. To be involved in some is simply to show up, while others require a more dedicated commitment to be a member of that ministry.  Come and find the fit that’s right for you!

What is the difference between a “Ministry” and a “Mission” as I see both on the site? Aren’t they the same thing, just different titles?

Well, the answer is easy.

A ministry is to the church body, those in the church or in other churches.

A mission is the unsaved world. Think of a missionary to some third world country.

Some ministries blur the line a bit, such as a food pantry, because it can be both, serving the saved in the church that have needs and the unsaved in the world who have the same needs. Music ministry can also blur the line since it has the ministry role inside the church but may have a mission role outside proclaiming Jesus to a dying world in music and verse.

Some are pretty straight forward, they minister to the people inside the church. However never think that a particular ministry cannot be used to attract the lost to Jesus. Some ministries like Men’s Fellowship, and Women’s Fellowship may be the small group encounter that someone needs to come to Jesus. Inviting a lost person can sometimes be the thing that convinces that person to finally answer the gentle  knocking on their heart that Jesus has been doing for years. So just because it’s a ministry don’t count it out as a way to introduce others to Jesus.

Each ministry has it’s own purpose, methods, and even it’s own vision, but all ministries support the church’s vision and goals first, and foremost. For more information on any one particular ministry, just scroll down to see what it is about.

MUSIC MINISTRY

“I am not afraid to glorify His Name”...

Those are words to just one of the songs we sing here at Heart of God Fellowship. We spend a portion of almost every service in vocal praise and adoration of our Lord Jesus. By incorporating classic hymns, familiar choruses, and some homegrown melodies, we weave a message in song that lets the Lord know how much we love Him. Some of our songs make strong statements of who we are in Him according to the Word, and some let the devil know where he stands. But praise and worship is not just singing. We praise God with our tithe and offering; we praise Him with acts of service to others; everything we do, if we “do it as unto the Lord”, is a part of worship to our God.

Every time we go to church; each service we have in the freedom of our country; every song we sing making “a joyful noise”, and every word coming from the pulpit with no government restrictions; are special. With all the persecution of Christians going on in much of the rest of the world, praise to Jesus should never leave our lips. We are in the process of expanding our band to include brass woodwinds, and strings!

MEN’S FELLOWSHIP

Meets: 1st,2nd,3rd, and 5th Friday evening at 7pm. The 1st Saturday of the month for breakfast at 9 am

Welcome to the Men’s Fellowship!

Called “A Band of Brothers”, the men’s ministry meets at church each Friday evening at 7:00 pm for a time of bonding and learning the real purpose of a man according to God’s Word, rather than what the world has to offer. Our intent is to restore biblical manhood, which is far from the “traditional” beliefs about what it should be. Our men are involved in hands on community outreach; they have taken on projects like painting an older person’s home, repairing cars, and various projects at the church. The men also do things together like ball games, camping, hunting, fishing, etc. Once a month they also have a fellowship breakfast at the church and our Pastor brings them a message.

We are working our way through “Experiencing the Heart of Jesus” by Max Lucado. We invite you to join us.

WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP

Meets: 10:00 every second Saturday of the month

Every second Saturday morning the women in the church get together at the church and enjoy fellowship along with a lesson. We are growing into a community of ladies knit together by our love for Jesus and our life experiences. As time as gone on, we’ve been able to count on each other for fellowship, comfort, support, prayer, and accountability.

Our women’s leader is a strong spiritual example to all of us. She has depth of insight into the Word and it’s application to everyday life and a quick wit that keeps everything light. It’s quite enjoyable to sit under someone who teaches with a lovely sense of humor. She has developed and has had the ladies of Heart of God Fellowship involved in a ministry called “The Moses Basket”, which is literally a wicker style basket filled with all kinds of basic baby needs for new mothers who need a little extra help getting on their feet.

Our women’s leader was raised in Arizona and has been married to her husband for 34 years. She has a grown son and enjoys motorcycle rides with her husband.

We also bring goodies to enjoy during our time together.

Please feel free to come and sample our time together. We would love to have you!

MARRIED COUPLE’S FELLOWSHIP

On the 4th Friday of each month the married couples of Heart of God Fellowship meet in the fellowship hall at the church for an evening of dinner and fellowship. This is a great time to get to know each other. Pastor Bob most often brings a short teaching, and depending on the time of year, other seasonal activities take place.

The dinner theme for each fellowship changes from month to month. We may have Mexican, Italian, burgers and dogs on the grill, casserole night, and at holiday time we go all out with all the trimmings.

In February we have a Valentine Day's Dinner and Dance instead of the regular fellowship, and open it up to unmarried couples as well as our “old married folks”! A catered event complete with candlelight and your favorite love song, this is a truly special event for you to have a lovely place to take your sweetheart for good food, fellowship, and dancing without feeling like you’re in a questionable place

Every year in December the married couples have a Christmas party, complete with the "good gift-gag gift" game! There is nothing more hilarious than watching some of the gifts being opened then traded or stolen! Each couple brings a nice, inexpensive (or handmade) gift, and a gag gift. You can see the thoughtfulness that goes into the “good” gifts and a lot of sheer orneriness in the gag gifts; some people literally plan the entire year for this game! (This year, we opened up the party to our singles, and that brought another barrel of laughs!)

Plan to attend, you won't regret it!
