We are currently involved with 3 nursing homes in the Kansas City area. Once a month, members of Heart of God Fellowship go and minister in song and bring a short message. The ministry is led by Dan Tarpening. The folks love to sing, especially the “old standards” of the church, and because in many cases there are no actual church services in these facilities, they eat up the Word. Most of all, there are the hugs. Lots of hugs.

The nursing home minister takes care of the nursing home ministry. He’s always looking for people with a heart for the elderly to come along and sing, visit, or give out hugs.

Our nursing home minister was raised in Independence but lived in Colorado Springs for a short time, as well as Brookfield, Missouri. He has also been privileged to be on the mission field ministering to the Native Americans of Southwest Arizona and California. He has been married for over 20 years, and they have 2 grown children and 1 grandson. His favorite verses are Romans 8:28, 38-39 and Phillipians 4:13.
