Final stop before Young Adults: Youth!
Teens have so much to think about and balance in their schedule and so much to prepare for in life. Life is full of people telling them who and what they are, when what they need is someone to help them discover God’s plan for their future and help them see themselves as He sees them.
That’s why our goal is to lay a strong biblical and church family foundation that will last the rest of their lives.
Our new youth room comes complete with a soda fountain, projection screen, stage, foosball, video games, a stage, and is next door to basketball court in the gym and hangout area. Thursday nights are the main focus for the youth; there is time for praise and worship with “their kind of music”, a message from the Word, and fun and fellowship.
We also have one outing for the youth each month. Activities in the past have included things like trips to Worlds of Fun, lock-ins, canoeing and camping in southern Missouri, as well as a week at youth camp with hundreds of other youth from around the area.
Our youth pastors have a vision for the future with our youth; as with the younger children, they continue to lay the foundation that will make a strong, stable Christian adult and believe wholeheartedly these kids are becoming leaders and great men and women of God.
The youth went to Haiti on a week long mission trip. They raised the money. They worked very hard at the Mission of Hope-Haiti, and yes, they spent one day on the beach! The youth are currently raising funds for their NEXT missions trip to Mission of Hope. The mission said they were blessed to have our youth, but we know our youth received the greater blessing; revelation of the greatness of our country’s freedoms, the depth of the needs of people, and the profound impact their sacrifice can make in Jesus’ name.
